Help rebuild New York while saving the Track Bike!
Brooklyn bicycle company Affinity Cycles and Staten Island’s Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan announce Ride4NY a non for profit group formed to raise funds, awareness and rebuilding strategies for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. This week Ride4NY, Affinity and Raekwon will be hosting a benefit concert, custom bicycle auctions and a group ride all aimed to raise money for those hardest hit by the storm.
In conjunction with Ride4NY Affinity and Raekwon have created these 3 custom project bicycles to be auctioned off and 100% of the proceeds will be going to charity.
In typical Wu Tang black and yellow, these bikes feature some of New York Cities hardest hit areas, Staten Island, Rockaway, Red Hook and Coney Island. The frame set is an Affinity Kissena with custom 88mm carbon rims hand laced to Gran Compe hubs. The winner can choose either tubular or clincher rims. Parts list includes, Affinity R/T crank set, Truvativ bb, Tange track bars, Thomson stem and seat post, All City track grips, Fizik Arione saddle, FSA headset, Conti tires, Mks pedals and clips, Toshi double straps.
This is a 5 day no reserve auction. Since this is a custom bike, the winner will choose their size Affinity Kissena frame, then the bike will be sent out for paint. Please expect 2 weeks to 1 month for paint and assembly. There will only be 3 of these bikes made, each is unique in its own right.
Hurricane Sandy hit New York City a little over a month ago, the majority of Rockaway and the hardest hit area of Staten Island are still with out power. We will be distributing the funds through grass roots relief efforts on Staten Island and Rockaway in the form of pre paid credit cards. Members of Ride4NY, Affinity and Raekwon will be hand delivering these pre paid credit cards door to door shortly after the auction, just in time for the holiday season.
If your in or around NYC this week, the benefit concert is this Thursday December 13th and the mass group ride is this Saturday December 15th.
Thanks for the heads up John! Wonder what Mr. Watson’s Wu-Tang name would be if they allowed metal dudes in the crew. Probably something like Viking Assassin.
